The annual Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), recently released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, shows that the University of Belgrade has retained its position between 401st and 500th place on the list. The so-called Shanghai list ranks more than 1000 best universities in the world; however, only the best 500 are published.
Since 2012, the University of Belgrade continues to be highly positioned on this prestigious academic ranking. Although informal, being ranked highly on the Shanghai list is a matter of prestige because it covers only two percent of the world’s universities. The list compares universities all around the world based on several ranking criteria, such as the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes, etc. The complete list and detailed methodology can be found at ShanghaiRanking’s website.
Besides global university academic performance ranking, the list also provides ranking by subject area. The University of Belgrade ranked among the top 100 best universities in the world in Food Science and Technology and 300 best world’s universities across several study fields of Medical and Life Sciences.
