In December 2021, Study in Serbia initiative participated in Expo 2020 – the world‘s fair which is taking place in Dubai (UAE) from October 2021 to March 2022, as a part of the delegation of the Republic of Serbia.
On December 14, possibilities for international students to continue their studies in Serbia were presented at the Serbian Pavilion, as well as opportunities for educational institutions and student recruitment organizations for cooperation with Serbian universities and colleges. The speakers included Mr Branko Ružić, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Mrs Marija Filipović-Ožegović, Director of the Foundation Tempus, and Prof. Vladimir Popović, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade. Students from the United Arab Emirates and India were especially targeted, as well as other peers of the region.
The emphasis was put on study programmes with a long tradition of welcoming international students. The Study in Serbia brochure was also presented, providing information on the higher education system, all the accredited programmes taught in English, as well as the student guide on application procedure, entry requirements, and living conditions in Serbia.
Complementary to the presentation, bilateral meetings were held with student recruitment agencies from the UAE to establish cooperation between them and Serbian higher education institutions.
Expo 2020 Dubai is taking place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, initially scheduled for 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021; however, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The theme of the Expo is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future".
