The Shanghai ranking list of Serbian universities
Serbia’s universities have long been recognized for their quality education and research capabilities.
The Shanghai Ranking is one of the most influential university rankings worldwide. Updated annually by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, this ranking uses six objective indicators to evaluate institutions. These include the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of highly cited researchers, and the volume of articles published in prestigious journals such as Nature and Science.
According to the latest ranking of universities around the world (2023), on the Shanghai ranking list, the University of Belgrade stands out as Serbia's top-ranked institution. It is positioned between 301 and 400 among the world’s best universities, and this ranking underscores the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its significant impact on global research. Beyond its overall ranking, the University of Belgrade has achieved remarkable success in specific fields. Notably, it ranks 40th globally in Textile Science and Engineering. Furthermore, it is listed among the top 75 universities worldwide for Food Science and Technology, and it is ranked among the top 300 universities globally for Physics, Dentistry and Oral Sciences, and Clinical Medicine.
The University of Novi Sad also makes a strong showing on the Shanghai Ranking list. It is ranked between 151st and 200th in the field of Food Science and Technology. In addition to its success in Food Science, the University of Novi Sad is recognized for its contributions to Hospitality and Tourism Management. Ranking among the top 300 universities in this field, the university continues to develop programs that prepare students for careers in these dynamic industries.
The University of Kragujevac made an appearance on the list as well with its significant strides in the field of Clinical Medicine, earning a spot among the top 300 universities globally.
