The annual Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), released yesterday by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, shows that the University of Belgrade is one of the 600 best universities in the world. The University was ranked between 501st and 600th place on the list. The so-called Shanghai list ranks more than 1000 best world universities. Another university from Serbia, the University of Novi Sad, was ranked between 901st and 1000th place on the list.
Since 2012, the University of Belgrade continues to be highly positioned on this prestigious academic ranking. Although informal, being ranked highly on the Shanghai list is a matter of prestige because it covers only two percent of the world’s universities. The list compares universities all around the world based on several ranking criteria, such as the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes, etc. The complete list and detailed methodology can be found on ShanghaiRanking’s website.
Besides global university academic performance ranking, the list also provides ranking by subject area. The University of Belgrade ranked among the top 75 best universities in the world in Food Science and Technology and 300 best world universities across several study fields of Medical and Life Sciences. More information is available on the Study in Serbia website.
